Construction of the Thames Gateway Bridge is crucial for improving business around east London, according to firms in the area.
Almost half of companies polled say the bridge is the one scheme that would most benefit their trade and would be better for the bottom line than Crossrail.
The survey, by investment agency Gateway to London, found 48% enthusiastically backed the controversial scheme, which may never be built.
Only around 30% thought Crossrail would help them and 12% said the Channel Tunnel Rail Link would make a difference to their trade.
According to the Financial Times, transport is the biggest issue faced by respondents in the east end, who complain of difficulties with connectivity.
Mayor Boris Johnson has shown opposition to the Thames Gateway Bridge scheme, which he says has significant infrastructure issues.
There are currently no plans to proceed with it.'
