You quote Francis salway as saying about Crossrail:
"The key bit was about London’s contribution to GDP, its share in the growth of exports and how a strong London leads to growth outside the capital. We were able to show how many businesses that had set up in London went on to open offices outside the city. It was an example of how getting facts can help with lobbying.’ "
It is to be noted that there is no reference to the transport needs of London people.
There is no reference to the severe income disparity that exists between every two parts of central London.
There is no reference to the severely persistent jobless rates in ALL London boroughs.
There is no mention of the English regions in the context of the economic performance of the UK as a whole.
No comparative or even basic recognition of the human resources that are wasted by bad management and poor maintenance of existing transport infrastructure in London, in the suburbs and in the regions...
So what Francis Salway did was to LOBBY. Pure and simple.
No evidence needed to justify the allocation of £Billions of public money to a scam that was NOT recommended in the report authored in the name of Rod Eddington.
The two ‘Crossrail Bill Select Committees’ in the two Houses of the UK parliament were either barred from receiving evidence showing up the shallowness and overwhelming irrelevance and wastefulness of Crossrail or were too callously constituted and stooged themselves to seek such evidence from interested parties and objectors. If Gordon Brown is going to be liable for wasting £Billions on Crossrail then at least on this one, he will know who conned him and tricked him into doing so. We say even at this stage, Gordon Brown and the UK economy will be better off scrapping the crassly conceived London Crossrail scam.
KHOODEELAAR! No to Big Business CRASSrail hole scam
